#1 Make It Comfy
A house cannot be a home without making it a comfortable living space. You want to make it a place where you can relax and feel at peace. You want this also to be more than just one spot in your house. Having multiple spaces allows other to enjoy it just as much as you.
Choose comfortable furniture, like big soft sectionals. Have lots of pillows & big blankets and make sure you have an good bed.

#2 Make It A Place To Learn
This goes even if you don’t have children. You want to have a space where you can grow and learn or have a private space to work. I do however think this is very important if you do have kids. They need a space where they can have their own time and let their imagination run wild, while learning things for themselves. It gives them a chance to concentrate on the task they are doing without distractions and allows them to have fun.
Even if you don’t have a whole room to give them, make sure they have a designated area for this. Give them toys that educate them, allow them to invent and help them grow.

#3 Make It A Space To Have Fun
For the adults and the kids. Both need spaces where they can enjoy their time in their own home. This often leads to strong relationships with your family members and allows you to all build continuous relationships with friends and family.
Generally, all this takes is some imagination on how to most efficiently use your available space. Having a basement is very nice, as it gives you extra space to entertain. However, if that is not an option, create a space in your kitchen or living room for the time being. Another great idea is to use the space you have outside.

#4 Keep It Organized
I say this because when you are organized, you often have more space, are less stressed and it creates responsibility among the members of the house. You feel accomplished when there is no mess and you should keep the items you have in a nice condition. It’s very important for your kids to learn- one, to be clean and keep things clean; but two, to be humble and appreciate the things you have. This gives you a respectable household where everyone is doing their part.

#5 Make It Unique
Everyone has their own style and I love nothing more than going into someones home and being able to see their personality shine through. A unique home is a home that is yours. A few things ideas that I like in order to accomplish this is replacing your doors with antique ones, adding family pictures around, refurbishing and creating your own decor. I really like to use antique decor, as that in itself is usually unique and one of a kind.

#6 Make It A Community Space
I want people to feel like they are welcome into my home. I am one that likes to host gatherings and events and having a place where the community is welcome is important to me. To do this, you can make your kitchen a big enough space for more than just your family, create a space where things for activities go (mud room, garage, pull barn, etc.), and make your porch an environment that welcomes people and allows them to gather.
