INGREDIENTS
1 pound breakfast sausage
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon papricka
1/8 teaspoon sage
INSTRUCTIONS
Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the sausage. Use a wooden spoon to break up the sausage and let it cook until it’s golden browned with no pink.
Melt some butter in the skillet and sprinkle flour all over the sausage. Stir it around until no flour is visible and cook for a couple of minutes. Stir in the milk until there are no lumps of flour left. Bring the mixture to a simmer. The gravy will begin to thicken, but be sure to stir often to prevent the bottom from burning.
Flavor the gravy with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika and sage. Serve warm over homemade or canned biscuits.
